North Carolina House speaker says university athletics scheduling bill isn't going further

    The most powerful member of the North Carolina House says legislation requiring several University of North Carolina system schools to play each other regularly in football and basketball is done for the year. A House committee on universities approved the measure Tuesday. House Speaker Tim Moore told reporters Thursday the bill won't come to the chamber floor but didn't give a specific reason. The bill would require teams at UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State to play each other at least once annually.
