Is it safe to leave an infrared heater on all night? ›

It may sound good, but you might remain concerned about the safety issues of these electrical appliances. The good news is that modern infrared heaters are very safe to use even when left unattended during the night, even while you are sleeping.

But don't worry, infrared heaters are incredibly efficient. They're designed to keep a space warm while using as little electricity as possible.

Infrared panels are suitable for all-day heating.

The gradual build-up of heat ensures a comfortable environment, allowing them to be left on for extended periods without making a room feel stuffy.

Near infrared has the lowest bandwidth of the three – and the lower the bandwidth, the more it excites our atoms. That means it has the potential to burn, and exposure to near infrared has been found to burn the retinas of the eyes. Far-infrared, by contrast, is completely safe.

Ceiling mounting is a good option because with ceiling mounting the surface temperature of the heating panel is hotter and more efficient. Place the infrared heating panels in the center of the ceiling which will cover a wider area.

Infrared heaters are known for their durability and longevity. On average, these heaters can last anywhere between 10 to 20 years depending on frequency of usage!

In addition, in some models, infrared heaters produce clean heat without a blower, so dirt and particulates are not dispersed around the home.

It depends on how much you are being charged per kilowatt hour. Usually your electric bill will state the rate and where I live it's about 10 cents per Kw/h. A 1500 watt heater is using about 1.5 Kw per hour x 24 hours = 36Kw/h. So about $3.60 in the USA.

Infrared heating is cost-efficient with proven savings of up to 60% compared to other conventional heating systems. They heat an area quicker than regular heaters, so do not need to be switched on as long. There are also no annual maintenance or servicing costs.

Quartz infrared heaters offer very fast heat-up and cool down times. Ceramic heaters, however, require more time to heat circulating air and warm up the room via convection. Quartz heaters can be used to create quieter heating equipment as in most cases air movement from noisy convection blowers is not needed.

Where is the best place to put an infrared heater? ›

It's therefore more economical that the infrared heating panel(s) are positioned on the wall where they can transmit directly to you on the sofa. They should ideally be in front of you, not on the wall directly behind your head.

It is safe to leave infrared heaters on overnight. However, it's important to choose a heater that has over-heating protection to ensure it remains at a cool temperature. Equally important is tip-over protection, which will immediately shut off the heater in the event it falls over.

The best way to find your ideal heater starts with the space you want to heat. As a rule of thumb, you will need 10 watts of heating power for every square foot of floor area in a room. That means a 1,500-watt heater can be the primary heat source for an area measuring up to 150 square feet.

An electric heater that blows cold air could be caused by one or more of the following reasons: The manual reset has tripped. The fan switch is “on” and the thermostat setting is below the actual temperature. The fan is dispersing this air after shutdown.
