There is the Paris Commercial Historic District (HD-1) and the Church Street Residential ( HD-2), Pine Bluff Fitzhugh ( HD-19) along with 15 stand alone districts. View the Historic District Map to see the districts. The purpose of the landmark districts is to preserve the history of Paris for future generations, and create a sense of pride in the community. When renovating a property that lies within the district on the map above, there is a review process that is triggered (Certificate of Appropriateness below form is needed). The purpose of the review process is to protect the character defining feature of the historic properties, and document changes of the assets of the Historic Districts. Depending on the renovation there are two types of Certificates of Appropriateness, commission reviewed and a minor review in house. For more information on starting the process of review, please call the Office of Historic Preservation at 903-784-9232.
