I rarely post but as Ramadan approaches, I'd love to share the spirit of compassion, especially for those of us who celebrate Ramadan, myself included (it is closely approaching tomorrow evening). For companies championing inclusivity and diversity, extending kindness during this time of devotion and inner reflection for us who practice can make a profound difference. Here are a few ways to show empathy and support:1. Acknowledge the first four days of Ramadan can be particularly challenging as our bodies and energy levels adjust. Similarly, the final four days may find us feeling more lethargic than usual as we approach the end of the fast.2. Lunch breaks may be replaced with noon and afternoon prayer breaks. While these breaks aren't lengthy, accommodating them for those who feel inclined can mean a lot during this sacred month.3. Consider offering a flexible work schedule, allowing individuals to start work at sunrise or leave early for Iftar, the breaking of the fast. This meal holds deep significance and is often shared with family, making it the important part of the day for those observing Ramadan.By showing understanding and grace, we can foster a workplace environment where everyone feels respected while also coming together as allies.
