Zakaria Hassan Adam, 26, was arrested Saturday with two others in connection to a shooting earlier this year at a local hookah lounge that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries.
Hamilton Police say that on Feb. 24 around 6:15 a.m., a shooting occurred inside the downtown California Dream hookah lounge at 185 King Street E. Three men fled the scene.
Now, the Sun has learned that Hassan Adam was convicted of manslaughter in the New Year’s Eve 2020 shooting of popular football player Jordan Henry, who dreamed of becoming a paramedic.
Henry was attending a party in Brampton to bring in 2020 when shots rang out. Homicide detectives followed the trail to Hamilton, where they made arrests in the killing of the Grade 12 student from St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Secondary School.

In addition to Hassan Adam, detectives later arrested Abdikadir Abdi, 20, and Mohammed Shokri, 18. The trio were initially charged with first-degree murder before they pleaded to manslaughter.
Shokri was sentenced to 14 years less time served, Abdi received five years less time served, and Hassan was caged for less than a year after time served was subtracted.
“This was a senseless act of violence that took the life of Jordan Henry, a 17-year-old innocent young man who had a very bright future ahead of him,” Peel Regional Police Insp. Todd Leach told the Sun’s Joe Warmington at the time.
Hamilton detectives said Hassan-Adam was arrested Sunday at the city’s Sankofa Bar at 92 Jackson St. E. after officers attended for a minor vehicle collision. Cops allege that Hassan-Adam was operating a stolen vehicle.
